    Inconnu Lodge

Imagine being surrounded by the most beautiful backdrop in the world — the rugged Canadian Rockies in the heart of the remote Yukon Territory — and catching fish all day! At Inconnu, our guests enjoy completely customized daily flyouts, meals prepared by 5 star chefs, and passionate, experienced guides. This is arguably the top-rated lodge in all of Canada.

Inconnu Lodge offers its clients a vast variety of activities including fishing, river drift trips, canoeing, photography and just general relaxation. All one’s time may be spent on one activity or you may mix up your week. With a vast amount of land as your playground, each Inconnu Lodge guest has the unique opportunity to explore and experience the majesty of the Yukon.

Inconnu Lodge’s location provides access to 12 major rivers and streams and 17 incredible lakes, all within a 30-minute flight by floatplane or helicopter. Wake up in the morning, select a fishing or hiking spot on a map of the Yukon, and just minutes later, you are there with hundreds of square miles of wilderness all to yourself. 14-16 foot boats are used for all fishing excursions and jet boats make river travel a breeze. A typical day can be spent traveling down a breathtaking stretch of river connecting two larger lakes, each holding distinctively different angling possibilities.

Seven species of fish thrive in the waters surrounding Inconnu Lodge: lake trout, northern pike, arctic grayling, dollies (bull trout or char), shee fish, whitefish and burbot. Spinning, trolling and especially fly fishing can easily provide seasoned fishermen and beginners alike with plenty of action in the 5-30 lb. class. Recommended fly setups: 9 ft./3 wt. rod for grayling, 9 ft./6 wt. rod for dollies/lake trout, 9 ft./6-8 wt. rod for pike. Spinning: Ultra-light spinning rod with 6/8 lb. test. Medium spinning rod with 12/14 lb. test, bait casting rod with 12/16 lb. test. The Lodge can supply at all rods, reels, line and lures at no charge.

Several magnificent lake and river systems are accessible from Inconnu Lodge. Just outside, McEvoy Lake holds lake trout, while the nearby river offers Arctic grayling on flies or spinners. There is a lot of wildlife to view from the main lake: moose, caribou, bald eagles, osprey, falcons, trumpeter swans, loons, and ducks. Nearby lake and river systems produce some of the biggest and most plentiful lake trout in all the North. Guests will find Arctic grayling (nearly every cast) and large bull trout in the local rivers. You might fly out by helicopter to a remote lake and take a river drift trip using inflatable rafts, fishing for huge northern pike. Before dinner, grab a paddle and canoe around Inconnu Lodge’s many lakes and view the local wildlife. Spend a morning fishing and exploring, then meet at the shore lunch island for a superb feast of baked trout. You may opt to take an adventure flight to Virginia Falls on the South Nahanni River. Fish the Woodside River for northern pike, Arctic grayling and inconnu (shee fish), or explore a nearby abandoned trading post.

The lodge is 6,500 square ft. and includes a large dining room, lounge, bar, store, kitchen and laundry facility. A sauna and hot tub await you by the lake after a long day of fishing. The lodge takes up to 12 guests in twin and triple rooms. Guest cabins are cedar with private bathroom.

    How to get there

Working with you we typically work on finding the quickest way to get you from your door to sitting comfortably on the deck overlooking the waters of the Coral Sea with a cold drink in hand. It is our belief that it’s better to have a couple of extra hours up there then stuck at an airport or another nondescriptive hotel room.
